Solar is a long-term investment that will pay off over a few years because the use of your own renewable energy decreases your electricity bills. Solar power has never been more affordable with Government incentives still available.

Each and every roof is different and Eco Sparky individually designs the solar panels for your roof, no rooftop is too difficult for us! To view previous examples of exemplary solar installations, head to our Gallery.

Solar Power FAQs:

How does solar power work?

When the sun is shining, Solar panels collect energy and convert it into DC electricity. Then, to power your home or business, your inverter turns it into AC electricity. These days a smart meter makes it possible to use your own Solar power during the day whilst the sun is out.

Often your panels produce more power than you use, in this case the extra electricity will be sent to the grid at a feed in tariff ‘FIT’ rate of average 6-10c per kWh (depending on which provider you are with). You receive a credit for this on your electricity bill which will offset a portion, or in some cases even all of your usage from the grid!

By adding a Solar system your power bill will be reduced, especially if you are able to use your heavy electrical loads whilst the sun is shining.

You may also consider adding a battery to your Solar system to store that excess power you produce for your own use overnight, removing your reliance on the grid almost completely.

What incentives are available for solar?

There are two incentives that are applied.

FIRSTLY, is the government’s Small-scale Technology Certificate program (STCs) which SUBSIDISES THE UPFRONT COST for you. The criteria you need to meet:

  1. System is less than 100kw

  2. You use products approved by the Clean Energy Council (CEC)

  3. It is installed by a CEC accredited electrician like Eco Sparky

Consider STCs like a “credit” for doing the right thing for the environment. They are “sold“ on an electronic platform after your system and paperwork is complete and approved. Australia’s largest polluters are forced by the government to “buy” these STCs to offset their carbon footprint. Assigning your STCs to Eco Sparky as your CEC installer allows Eco Sparky to give you an affordable price and means you don’t need to worry about any hassle or paperwork, as the incentive is applied to your invoice directly as a point of sale discount and Eco Sparky handles the rest.

SECONDLY, is the Feed In Tariff (FIT) which is where your electricity retailer pays you in credits on your bill for any additional electricity your system creates that your household has not used, and then exports it back to the grid. Eco Sparky is happy to give you tips but you should shop around here to ensure you get the FIT rate and general kWh usage rate that is best for your circumstance.
