Powering Community Sport with Clean Energy: Central Coast Football Case Study

At Eco Sparky, we believe in creating real impact—both environmentally and within the communities we serve. When Central Coast Football (CCF), a not-for-profit organisation at the heart of local sport, approached us to help reduce their energy costs at Pluim Park, we saw an opportunity to deliver more than just a solar system.

By designing and installing a tailored 39.6kW solar and battery solution, we helped CCF take control of their energy usage, lower their bills, and redirect vital funds back into grassroots player development. This case study highlights the results of that partnership—demonstrating how smart solar design can drive sustainability, financial resilience, and community benefit.

Case Study: Central Coast Football – Scoring Big with Solar

Client: Central Coast Football (CCF)

Installer: Eco Sparky

Project: 39.6kW Solar System + BYD/Fronius Battery Management System

Location: Pluim Park, Lisarow, NSW

Technology: 90x Trina Solar Panels, 3x Fronius GEN24 Inverters, 3x BYD Battery-Box Premium, Clenergy Tilt Frames

The Challenge

Central Coast Football (CCF) needed a sustainable and cost-effective solution to tackle rising electricity costs at their Pluim Park clubhouse. As a not-for-profit organisation deeply invested in grassroots sport, reducing ongoing expenses meant more resources could be directed back into the community and into player development programs.

The Solution

Eco Sparky designed and installed a 39.6kW solar power system complete with smart Fronius GEN24 inverters and BYD Battery-Box Premium units. The system was tailored to CCF’s energy profile, aiming to cut down costs and boost energy independence. Panels were installed on tilt frames to maximise solar production throughout the year.

The Results (Feb 2025 vs. Feb 2024)

1. Financial Savings

Previous Bill (94 days, Pre-Solar): $4,935.84 → $52.51/day

Current Bill (30 days, Post-Solar): $615.19 → $20.51/day

Daily Savings: $32.00+ per day

Monthly Estimate: Approx. $960 saved per month

Overall Reduction: 61% in daily electricity costs

2. Energy Usage Reduction

Previous Daily Usage: 152.17 kWh

Current Daily Usage: 64.78 kWh

Usage Reduction: 57%

3. Key Contributors to Savings

Solar Generation: Averaging 75.10 kWh/day exported back to the grid, earning credit ($112.66 on the latest bill).

Peak Usage Drop: 35.02 kWh/day → 13.32 kWh/day (↓ 62%)

Off-Peak Usage Drop: 74.17 kWh/day → 40.93 kWh/day (↓ 45%)

Improved Efficiency: Better load management and battery storage reducing reliance on expensive peak tariffs.

Looking Ahead

While the results have already been impressive, there’s still more potential to unlock. Adding one more 10kW inverter and additional battery storage could help CCF capture and store more of its excess solar production—bringing them even closer to complete energy independence.

Conclusion

The collaboration between Eco Sparky and Central Coast Football has delivered real, measurable results. With a 61% reduction in electricity costs and a 57% cut in energy usage, this installation proves how investing in clean energy can benefit both the environment and the bottom line—all while supporting community sport.
